Overview

Under the supervision of Assistant Director, Business Intelligence, the Data Analyst provides technical support as a member of the Program, Operations, Leadership Development (POLD) - BI Team. The Data Analyst provides reports and data from various sources that are necessary for the department to support and sustain its operational goals. The Data Analyst must have a basic understanding of the business environment and an interest in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, philosophy, and foundational roots of a data element in order to create information reports.

 

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director, the data analyst assists in building an understanding of the business by continuously researching, collecting and reporting data to support the BI function.
  • Collects and provides structured documentation and presentation of findings in all levels of data management.
  • Through individual development and collaboration with other staff designs document dashboards, alerts, and reports.
  • Records data in various databases.
  • The Data Analyst is accountable for providing data that is accurate, congruent and reliable, and ensures that the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems.
  • Provides technical expertise, guidance, and support of data collection and reporting methods utilized in the POLD department.
  • Checks the data source for omission and accuracy. Identifies the sources that are appropriate for specific types of information.
  • Relates and manipulates data from various sources to create a fuller picture.
  • Completes various data entry and general administrative projects.
  • Provides periodic data reports to include charts, tables, and other information illustrations
  • Provides input on work plans or reviews other work plan timelines and manages workflows to meet BI project timeframes.
  • Identifies and evaluates internal and external customers’ needs in order to provide appropriate data reporting solutions.
  • Reviews incoming data requests to evaluate timelines and execution process.
  • No direct Reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of temporary employees and student interns

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalency required.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in data collection and reporting in a formal business corporate for-profit or non-profit business environment. Advanced abilities in data recording, reporting formats, managing online and offline databases. Demonstrated highly advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of office products; particularly Excel. Advanced written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Normal internal office environment and/or ability to work outside of the office environment with integrity independently as needed.  Travel estimated at 5% required.
