In collaboration with the Finance Director, the Costing Analyst has the primary responsibility of identifying and tracking cost out opportunities, managing the long term planning process, and identifying and assisting with process improvements throughout the organization. The Costing Analyst will be responsible for analyzing the organization’s financial results to identify areas for cost savings and/or avoidance, as well as guiding the organization through the implementation. Additionally, the Costing Analyst will be heavily involved in assisting with the preparation of board materials and other presentations. The role will also require significant collaboration with key stake holders from the services areas.



  • Identify areas in the business where cost savings and cost avoidance are possible and assist the Finance Director in quantifying, negotiating, implementing, and tracking the cost out initiatives.
  • Analyze invoices to identify and prevent instances of overbilling
  • Work with business partners and members of the Finance & Accounting team to identify areas for improvement within the organization.
  • Coordinate and assist with the long term planning and annual planning processes
  • Support the Finance Director in the preparation of various executive reporting materials
  • Support the Finance Director in the preparation, coordination, compilation and consolidation of the annual budgets. Maintain and keep up-to-date the departmental budgets in the financial systems.
  • Perform headcount analysis to determine impact of vacancies and staff turnover to the annual budgets and forecasts, as well as cost implications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Director.

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in finance or education/experience equivalency.
  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in financial analysis. Experience in non-profit accounting preferred, but not required. Must have the ability to independently manage multi-task & complex assignments


Demonstrated skills in the preparation and analysis of financial reports. Expertise in budgeting and reporting. Assist in designing and establishing appropriate systems to gather, record and present data. Assist in the preparation of proposals for funding; coordinate and review proposal budgets for consistency. Good organizational and time management skills. High degree of familiarity with and ability to use computerized accounting systems. Demonstrated ability to gain the respect of B&GCA staff and the ability to influence the adherence of accounting policies and practices. Anticipate needs of the projects and make suggestions to supervisor. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.



Ability to exchange, clearly and concisely: ideas, facts, and/or technical information and guidance, in person, by telephone, fax or correspondence.  Ability to apply problem solving and analytical skills to perform required responsibilities.  Ability to independently assume responsibility for the overall needs of the accounting department.

Physical requirements include sight, sitting for four plus hours a day, stooping; skills essential for successful communications including speaking and writing.
