  • Overview

    Under the supervision of National Director, Business Intelligence, the Data Analyst, Business Intelligence provides guidance and assistance to the BI Team in identifying and developing business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis that are necessary for BGCA to support and sustain its operational goals and mission. The Senior Data Analyst, Business Intelligence builds an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues that can be supported by data management tools, processes, and systems. This position requires the ability to multi-task complex assignments and effectively gather and merge data from across multiple data sources. Provides leadership and serves on interdepartmental cross-functional teams to provide consultation and guidance on data quality and data governance. The Senior Data Analyst, Business Intelligence must be proficient in ability to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.   The qualified candidate must have a broad understanding of the business environment and an interest in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, philosophy, and foundational roots of a data element in order to create meaningful information.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides technical expertise, guidance, and support of data collection and reporting methods utilized throughout BGCA to ensure integration with key systems and department objectives.
    • Reviews test plans and monitors testing process to ensure high quality data is collected and that business results are effective.
    • Organizes and leads BI workstream projects in the implementation and use of BI software tools and systems.
    • Develops and provides data reports and products to meet needs of multiple audiences.
    • Provides guidance and independent service on highly complex, cross- functional, and enterprise business intelligence data solutions.
    • Diagnoses problems using formal problem-solving tools and techniques from multiple angles and probes underlying issues to generate multiple potential solutions.
    • Researches tools, frameworks and mechanisms for data analytics.
    • Interfaces with vendors to keep abreast of new technologies, pricing and customer applicability.
    • Manages the development of methods and standards for vendor evaluations.
    • Provides subject matter expertise for key BI core functions.
    • Conducts analyses of functional business processes related to data management and participates in the development of business cases
    • Identifies and evaluates internal and external customers’ needs and abilities in order to provide appropriate solutions.
    • Provides input to the development of information quality metrics.
    • When directed, advises Senior Leadership on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) can play a critical role in improving business management and optimization.
    • Tracks and synthesizes systemic benchmarking trends. Evaluates composite information in relation to its impact on decision-making and strategic implications.
    • Manages the implementation (i.e., testing, issues resolution) of new systems or modifications.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED

    • No direct reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of temporary employees and student interns.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a strong background in technology projects, data analysis and statistics. 
    • Background/experience in computer science and data information systems a plus. 
    • Three or more years of experience, including working with data and managing large databases.  Requires experience with both quantitative and qualitative data.

    Desired Technical Skills

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
    • Superior ability to utilize full Microsoft Office Suite to manipulate and analyze data. 
    • Experience with Microsoft Power BI strongly desired.  
    • MS SQL or other database platforms
    • Understanding of Relational Databases

Physical requirements include: sight, hearing, sitting for four or more hours a day, standing for one to two or more hours a day, stooping; skills essential for successful communications include speaking, writing and reading comprehension

     

    Normal internal office environment and/or ability to work outside of the office environment with integrity independently as needed.  Travel estimated at 10% required.
