    Learning Outcomes:
    • How to develop culturally appropriate, staff and youth facing content related to youth trends and current events
    • How to gather and synthesize useful information from the field to inform content development
    • How to disseminate resources through various communication channels as part of a youth trends strategy
    • How to build and manage meaningful relationships with Clubs, partners, and other key stakeholders to the benefit of the program and mission
    • How to meet challenges, overcome obstacles, and exceed expectations in delivering expectations and program objectives
    • How to develop stewardship, communication, and teamwork skills

    Responsibilities

    Possible Projects:

     

    Research
    • Provide on-going research on youth trends and current events through academic sources, external organizations, news outlets, and social media channels
    • Gather information from the field through surveys and phone interviews
    • Synthesize information to inform content development, including determining priority content areas and conducting a gap analysis for future content development

     

    Content Development
    • Develop several resources (discussion guides, infographics, activities, project plans, etc.) for Club staff and youth based on youth trends and current events
    • Steward content through the Editorial process


    Content Dissemination
    • Disseminate developed resources via email communications, social media, blog posts, and internal BGCA communication systems
    • Present findings and developed resources with internal BGCA team
    • Maintain database of current youth trends resources

     

    Other
    • Receive mentoring and shadowing opportunities
    • Demonstrate BGCA ICARE values and integrate into work environment and model in the way that you work, uphold those same values in others
    • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA's Intern Policy, Ethics Policy and elsewhere

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

     

    Education
    Currently enrolled as a Senior in an undergraduate program, have obtained an undergraduate degree, or is currently enrolled in a graduate program and in excellent academic standing. Must have knowledge of health topics, current events, research, and content development. Preferred knowledge of multi-faceted project planning. Interest in not-for-profit (NGO) and youth development.

     

    Experience
    Some experience in either research, creating content, writing, or program implementation is preferred. Experience in Microsoft Office suite and social media is a plus. A track record of reliability, some independent work and creativity.

    Skills
    Applicants should demonstrate interest in Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Eagerness to learn and creativity. Strong interest in project management in not-for-profit environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time appropriately. Professional or business work casual environment

     

    Physical and Mental Requirements
    Demonstrated ability in: decision-making: selecting the most appropriate course of action in a given situation; interpersonal skills: establishing personal and professional relationships among diverse internal and external publics; comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; light duty lifting (30 pounds) possible.
