Under the direction of the National Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, the National Director of Corporate & Cause Partnerships has responsibility for planning and implementing an aggressive fundraising program with major corporations within a defined geographic territory of 1-3 Regions.  This position leads revenue generation for national accounts by providing direct supervision to a team of Directors and by personally securing significant multi-year partnerships with national donors in support of the Great Futures Campaign.  Strong focus will be placed on generating cause-related marketing partnerships from new corporate prospects, including engaging high-level volunteer Board members in accessing their networks to open doors.  Strong emphasis will be placed on managing major corporate accounts to ensure deliverables are met, while building and renewing corporate partnership portfolio.  Activities also include solicitation of corporate sponsorships for special events and active participation in an overall results-oriented development team.  As part of the Expanded Resource Development Leadership Team, this position engages in strategic planning to ensure all revenue goals are met.     

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, develop and performance manage assigned staff according to BGCA’s policies and procedures, ensuring the overall smooth functioning of the Corporate & Cause Team, and consulting the National Vice President, Corporate & Cause Partnerships and appropriate Human Resources staff as indicated.  Provide coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback opportunities for professional development to Corporate & Cause team.  Handle staff issues swiftly and appropriately with minimum effect on work. 
  • Collaborate with peer National Directors, Corporate & Cause Partnerships for efficiency, consistency, collaboration and strength of overall team in carrying out their duties. 
  • Collaborate with Director, Corporate & Cause Operations to ensure contracts are completed in a timely manner, appropriate stewardship takes place and is recorded in appropriate system and that monthly reporting takes place in a timely fashion.
  • Work closely with staffs including but not limited to the following - Corporate & Cause Partnerships, Volunteer Strategy & Employee Engagement, Cause Marketing, Marketing & Public Relations, Organizational & Executive Development Services, Program, Training and Youth Development Services, Planning & Measurement, General Counsel and Financial Services - as needed to build, maintain, renew/upgrade and service partnerships; ensure Corporate & Cause team does the same.
  • Develop and implement aggressive solicitation of corporate support; develop and maintain knowledge of corporate giving interests, staff and trends.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate strategic partnerships with corporations.
  • Meet annual fundraising goals for renewals and new business.
  • Serve as primary contact for all customer service issues for corporate partners.
  • Monitor activity via reports and frequent customer contact; develop and deliver formal performance reports to each assigned account at least once annually and, as supervisor, review performance reports of all corporate gifts secured by team.
  • Create dynamic presentation packages for new corporate prospects and renewals.
  • Lead revenue generation by providing direct supervision and guidance to a team of Directors and by managing personal portfolio of high level multi-year national corporate donors.
  • Lead the corporate development team ensuring all members are participating in planning, solicitation, implementation and evaluation.
  • Review performance reports of all corporate gifts secured by team.
    • Personally secure multi-year seven-figure partnerships with national donors in support of the Great Futures Campaign.
    • Actively participate in strategic planning with the Corporate Leadership Team and with the overall Resource Development Team.
    • Share responsibility for Corporate Team Total Revenue and Operating Revenue goals.
    • Serve as key member of Resource Development Expanded Leadership team.
  • Conduct and/or participate in state, regional, and national staff meetings and conferences.
  • Work closely with the National Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, to ensure all relationships are managed and leveraged effectively for BGCA.
  • Research, identify, and investigate new opportunities for funding from a wide variety of sources to expand and diversify the donor base and lead to overall BGCA fundraising success.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with special projects or assignments as required by the National Vice President, Corporate & Cause Partnerships.
  • Work with the National Vice President, Corporate & Cause Partnerships to implement strategy to engage local Clubs in the overall corporate strategy to include keeping local Clubs informed and engaged in promotions and over-all corporate activities including participation in national conferences and collaborations with strategic third parties which further BGCA’s mission.
  • Look for opportunities to grow and develop personally and for the department and Movement to grow and develop such that BGCA and its staff are considered to be leaders in youth development and nonprofit fields.

Qualifications

education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, resource development, marketing, communications or related field is required.
  • Minimum of five years successful fundraising, sales and /or account management experience. Demonstrated track record of planning, managing, and initiating corporate relationships within the non-profit sector.  Experience with cause marketing campaigns and working with high level corporate representatives and volunteer board members is preferred.  Demonstrated successful experience in leading, supervising and developing staff.  Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Position may be office-based or telecommute, depending on location.  Normal internal working environment. Overnight travel estimated at 35-40% (which can be 8 to 10 days or more in a month, including some weekends, depending upon scheduling).  The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country or abroad by using a map or other direction methods.  Ability to travel by car train and by air.
