In this role, you'll work closely with the Vice President to provide supervision, direction, and training to our Directors of Organizational Development. But that's not all - you'll also play a pivotal role in expanding our consulting services and introducing cutting-edge organizational models to our member organizations through the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement.

 

As our Lead Director, you'll be the bridge between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and our member organizations, interpreting our goals and objectives and providing unwavering support for all our services. Collaboration is key, so you'll also work hand in hand with various departments to ensure seamless communication and partnership across the board.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Impact and Growth

• Provide leadership, training, and supervision while actively engaging in the evaluation process of Directors of Organizational Development and other designated staff under the guidance of the Vice President.
• Collaborate with the Vice President to formulate strategies and consulting services aimed at enhancing average daily attendance, overall membership, and recruitment and retention of teens for Directors of Organizational Development and affiliated member organizations.

 

Strong and Stable Clubs
• Oversee the Unit process in partnership with the Vice President, including the monitoring of Organizational Annual Plans and targeted initiatives.
• Offer consulting services in tandem with Club leaders to facilitate strategic planning, supporting organizational progress such as management agreements, mergers, and growth strategies.
• Strategically assess and provide technical support services, coordinating field and technical consultants' deployment, and facilitating service delivery from various BGCA departments to designated member Boys & Girls Clubs within the assigned service area.
• Foster relationships with newly appointed Chief Executive Officers, Board Chairs, and other board leaders within the designated service area.

 

Autonomy with Accountability
• Work collaboratively with the Vice President to ensure BGCA membership requirements and operational standards compliance across member organizations in the region.
• Promptly report crisis situations to relevant leadership and provide support to local Clubs in crisis preparedness and management. Facilitate coordination with Boys & Girls Clubs of America staff to develop an appropriate response to Club crises.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Promote and protect the BGCA brand
• Guide and support organizations in the unit in the advancement of BGCA’s strategy/national priorities
• Guide, support and help build the team in the accomplishment of the unit’s goals and objectives
• Assist with other projects and assignments as requested by Vice President and Senior Vice President, Organizational Development
• Demonstrate BGCA mission driven I*CARE values and integrate these beliefs into our environment and ways of work

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
• Direct supervisory responsibility over Directors of Organizational Development

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/experience equivalency
Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in the management, administration, and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization)

 

SKILLS

Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication skills; data analysis, managing databases, consultation and diagnosis; demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity; supervision and management skills; non-profit organizational planning and budgeting; negotiation and consensus building skills; strong interpersonal and human relations skills; successful board and resource development skills; strong organizational skills; and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, MS PowerPoint, Zoom, and MS Teams

 

ABILITIES
High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, and sitting for four plus hours per day. Skills essential for successful communications include speaking and writing.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS

• Normal internal working environment.
• Approximately 60-75% travel
• The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country by using a map or other direction methods
