LOCATION: This position is onsite, office-based in Atlanta, GA (hybrid model - 3 days remote / 2 days in office- Tuesday & Wednesday)

 

The Role:

Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of Youth Development the National Director of Workforce Activations will lead the design and oversee implementation of the youth experience and impact components of BGCA’s national workforce readiness strategy.  This role ensures that youth’s needs and interests are central to our national strategy, defines the milestones that ensure that youth are on pathways towards social and economic mobility, and leads the development of Club-centered programs and experiences that facilitate these trajectories. This role will work collaboratively with the Senior Advisor, Workforce to ensure that Youth Development’s approaches and activations align with the broader national strategy.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

Strategy & Vision Alignment 

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of the Youth Development department’s workforce approach to identify and centralize the needs and interests of youth (e.g., teen employment, youth entrepreneurship, workforce programming, etc.) and to ensure alignment with BGCA’s national strategy.  
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner on the development, expansion, and acceleration of BGCA’s national workforce strategy, bringing to bear evidence, expertise and insights representative of the field of youth development and local organizations’ priorities.  
  • Serve as the youth development subject matter expert to inform workforce conversations, planning, programs, protocols and fundraising across multiple functions and departments.  
  • Identify youth development milestones that predict youth work ready outcomes, leverage predictive pathways to assess and identify gaps in the Youth Development workforce approach, and partner across the Youth Development department to execute priority actions to address gaps (e.g., workforce programs across ages and stages of development). 
  • Collaborate with the broader Workforce team and the Research, Evaluation and Insights team to support a measurement strategy that aligns to the identified milestones. 
  • Collaborate with the broader Workforce team to develop and support a communications strategy that articulates the needs, interests and projected outcomes of the strategy in supporting youth’s social and economic mobility to ensure cohesion, clarity and consistency of messaging. 
  • Partner with the Strategy Implementation vertical within Youth Development and the Organizational Development team to execute a data-informed adoption strategy to increase meaningful engagement in workforce approaches, programs and resources. 

 

Project Management and Workforce Activations 

  • Maintain oversight and tracking of workforce grant deliverables across Youth Development teams.  
  • Provide oversight and leadership on the successful execution of key workforce activations and funder deliverables managed by the Workforce Activations team, ensuring timely and quality delivery of project goals and objectives. 
  • Oversee the implementation of Workforce professional development for youth development professionals as well as Youth Development workforce consults and technical assistance. 
  • Support Program Development & Delivery by providing subject matter expertise and content guidance on the development of workforce readiness program and training resources. 
  • Lead the development of a workforce activations Club Advisory Council to ensure Club needs and priorities are represented in the Youth Development strategy and provide feedback loops to inform the continuous quality improvement of workforce readiness programs and resources. 

 

Partnership Development and Management  

  • Serve as the point person and expert in vetting and aligning funding opportunities to Youth Development workforce activation priorities. 
  • Collaborate with the Senior Advisor of Workforce Readiness to identify, vet, and foster new non-funding partners to enhance workforce readiness programs at the national and local levels. 
  • Oversee management of funded and non-funded partners that support Youth Development’s workforce activations. 
  • Partner with the National Director of Workforce Readiness and Youth Development Operations to ensure strategic alignment of workforce funding opportunities with YD Workforce Activations’ priorities. 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Maintain a high level of expertise in the areas of youth workforce development, public workforce systems, high-quality youth development, quality improvement, and training to ensure the effective translation and application to Boys & Girls Clubs and drive impact in Club workforce readiness programs. 
  • Serve as a productive and collaborative member and leader of the Youth Development team. 
  • Participate in and support state, regional, and national conferences and convenings. 
  • Demonstrate BGCA mission driven I*CARE values and integrate these beliefs into our environment and ways of work.  
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA's Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.  

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED  

  • Provide direct supervision to a Senior Director, and general oversight to a team of Directors, under the Youth Development Workforce Activations Team with a focus on building an inclusive and effective team culture to achieve results. 

Qualifications

​What You Bring

  • Masters’s degree in a related field. 
  • Strong background in youth development, workforce development and strategy execution required 
  • Experience leading teams in the execution of programs or strategies is required.  
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience.  

 

SKILLS  

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; data analysis, demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity; supervision and management skills; organizational planning and budgeting; negotiation and consensus building skills; strong interpersonal and human relations skills; strong organizational skills; and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities at all times, displaying tact, maturity and flexibility.
