LOCATION: Atlanta, Ga (Hybrid- In office Tuesdays and Wedensdays)

TIME COMMITMENT: June 3rd-Aug 6th 2025 (30-40hrs/week)

COMPENSATION: $17/hr.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Fiscal Services intern will be primarily responsible for supporting a variety of department projects in Atlanta, GA this summer. In close collaboration with the State Alliance accountants, the intern will provide support with monthly accounting journal entries and processes, audit support requests, organization of records, assisting with director requests, and team meetings with directors.

The intern will be supporting the Fiscal Services team with accounting work and projects.

Responsibilities

Project Overview
The Fiscal Services intern will be primarily responsible for supporting a variety of department projects in Atlanta, GA this summer.

In close collaboration with the State Alliance accountants, the intern will provide support with monthly accounting journal entries and processes, audit support requests, organization of records, assisting with director requests, and team meetings with directors.

 

Project Objective

  1. Obtain exposure to nonprofit accounting through collaboration with accountants and alliance directors.
  2. Improve verbal and written communication skills regarding accounting topics.
  3. Navigate and learn to troubleshoot in online databases, accounting software, and team-specific excel tools.

 Project Task

  1. Support Fiscal Services/State Alliances projects in Atlanta, GA this summer.
  2. Support State Alliance accountants with audit needs as assigned and supported.
  3. Navigate and utilize accounting software to draft financial transactions, journal entries, and financial reports.
  4. Maintain monthly task tracker as assigned and supported by State Alliance accountants.
  5. Complete other accounting assignments as assigned and supported by State Alliance accountants.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage time appropriately
  • Ability to interact professionally with BGCA senior leadership and staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Education/Major:

Pursuing an accountancy degree with the desire to become a Certified Public Accountant.

 

Skills:

Applicants should demonstrate interest in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and an accounting career. This position requires basic knowledge of accounting principles. Experience using Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel. A track record of reliability, strong teamwork, and attention to detail. Excellent analytic, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time appropriately.
