Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people to reach their full potential. With a network of 5,500+ Clubs across the country, we provide safe, inclusive spaces where children and teens can grow, learn, and thrive. Each year, we reach 4 million youth, with a focus on those who need us most. Our mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

About the Role
BGCA is seeking a highly experienced executive recruiter to join our team as Director, Executive Search, Affiliate CEO Placement. In this pivotal role, you will lead national CEO searches for local Boys & Girls Club organizations, working directly with local Boards of Directors to attract, assess, and secure transformative leadership talent. This is a unique opportunity to apply your executive search expertise to a mission-driven organization that deeply values partnership, community, and impact.

You will serve as a strategic advisor to volunteer boards across the country, providing white-glove client service and thought partnership throughout the full lifecycle of each search. This role is ideal for an executive recruiter who thrives at the intersection of purpose and performance, and who brings a consultative, board-savvy approach to search delivery.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Lead full-cycle executive searches for local Boys & Girls Club CEO positions, from intake through onboarding.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to local Boards, providing counsel on recruitment strategy, candidate evaluation, and organizational alignment.
  • Facilitate search committee engagements and Board interactions to guide and inform decision-making throughout the process.
  • Design and execute custom sourcing strategies to attract a diverse, high-caliber candidate pool aligned with each Club’s community needs.
  • Develop candidate evaluation frameworks that support mission-fit, leadership capacity, and long-term organizational success.
  • Partner with BGCA senior leaders on succession planning, workforce development, and broader affiliate support.
  • Maintain talent pipelines and leverage data to continuously refine search strategy and outcomes.
  • Represent BGCA’s values and mission in all candidate and client interactions, serving as a culture ambassador.
  • Support cross-functional talent acquisition initiatives, contributing to innovations in service delivery and candidate experience.

Qualifications

Who You Are

You are a seasoned executive recruiter with deep expertise in managing high-stakes searches and advising senior stakeholders through moments of leadership transition. You bring credibility, confidence, and care to your client relationships—especially when working with Boards of Directors, CEOs, and senior leaders.

You thrive in environments where complexity and nuance are the norm. Whether navigating local board dynamics, adapting to varied organizational cultures, or tailoring search strategies to meet community needs, you bring clarity, structure, and strategic insight.

You move seamlessly between vision and execution—able to zoom out to assess long-term leadership needs and zoom in to assess candidate alignment with mission, culture, and capability. Above all, you are a trusted advisor, a thoughtful partner, and a passionate advocate for the power of leadership to shape communities and advance equity and opportunity for youth.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience leading retained or in-house executive searches, including C-level placements.
  • Proven experience managing client relationships, especially with nonprofit boards or C-suite stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen with a consultative mindset and ability to influence senior decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent, complex searches across geographies.
  • Deep understanding of talent assessment, inclusive recruitment practices, and nonprofit governance.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; boardroom presence is essential.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and tailoring solutions to the needs of local communities and Boards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ATS/CRM platforms, and digital sourcing tools.
