Overview

At Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), we are not just an organization — we are a movement, a force dedicated to transforming the lives of young people across the country. For over 160 years, we have been empowering the leaders of tomorrow, helping them unlock their potential, and giving them the tools to dream bigger and achieve more. We believe in providing all young people, especially those who need us most, with a safe place to grow, thrive, and succeed. This mission is at the heart of everything we do — and we need driven, passionate leaders like you to help us bring that mission to life.

About the Role

Imagine being at the center of a movement that is changing the future of millions of children. As the Senior Philanthropy Officer at BGCA, you’ll do more than raise funds — you’ll help build the foundation for future leaders. You will be entrusted with managing a portfolio of key donors, including those committed to planned giving, all while raising $3M annually to fuel BGCA’s mission.

In this role, you will be an architect of relationships, connecting with donors who share our vision of providing life-changing opportunities to youth nationwide. You’ll work alongside visionary leaders to craft innovative fundraising strategies, ensuring the continued growth and success of the organization. From identifying prospects to managing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, you will shape the trajectory of our mission through meaningful, lasting partnerships.

Who You Are

You are a passionate and dynamic storyteller who thrives on building relationships and creating transformative experiences. You know that true impact comes from understanding people’s aspirations, connecting their values with BGCA’s mission, and inspiring them to take action. With a proven track record of raising major gifts and managing high-level donor portfolios, you bring both strategy and empathy to the table. You are an innovator, always looking for new ways to engage and grow a community of supporters who are deeply invested in our youth.

You have a heart for philanthropy and a genuine belief in the power of BGCA’s work to change lives. Your skills in cultivation, stewardship, and donor relationship management will be crucial in helping BGCA reach new heights and ensure a brighter future for the young people we serve.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Philanthropy Officer, you will lead the charge in securing major gifts, acting as a steward of BGCA’s mission. You will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of 100-150 major gift prospects, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to create tailored strategies that resonate with each donor’s personal motivations and our collective mission.

Through your leadership, BGCA will not only meet its fundraising goals but will do so in a way that builds lasting relationships, ensuring that our youth have the resources they need to succeed for generations to come.

What You’ll Do

  • Portfolio Management:
Identify and manage a portfolio of 75-100 primary prospects, throughout the United States, with the goal of raising up to $3M annually. You will be the heart of BGCA’s fundraising efforts, cultivating long-term, meaningful relationships.
  • Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:
Build authentic relationships through visits, virtual meetings, and phone calls. Your role is to ensure every donor feels seen, valued, and connected to BGCA’s mission. You’ll create personalized experiences that transform donors into lifelong partners.
  • Fundraising Strategy & Initiatives:
Partner to develop innovative fundraising initiatives that engage targeted donor groups — such as Alumni, Celebrities, Women, Native Services, and more. Every initiative you create will be a chance to inspire change.
  • Pipeline Management:
Maintain a dynamic, accurate, and forward-looking pipeline in Salesforce, ensuring all prospects are strategically managed and that BGCA’s fundraising goals are met. You will be the key driver of data and insight, aligning all efforts toward our collective impact.
  • Proposal Development & Solicitation:
Lead the charge in developing proposals for donors with giving potential of $25K or more. Craft and deliver compelling proposals that reflect BGCA’s mission and the donor’s values, creating the perfect alignment for meaningful contributions.
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
Work with BGCA’s Resource Development team and national staff to ensure the organization’s fundraising strategies are seamlessly executed. You’ll contribute ideas, report on donor activity, and help propel BGCA’s overall fundraising efforts.
  • Innovation & Best Practices:
Stay ahead of the curve by implementing innovative fundraising practices and strategies. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking team that ensures BGCA remains at the cutting edge of nonprofit fundraising.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the gift cycle, from identification through solicitation and follow-up.
  • Ensure all work aligns with BGCA’s I*CARE values, contributing to a collaborative and mission-driven workplace.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Individual and Regional Development.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in major gift fundraising with a proven history of managing large portfolios and securing substantial donations.
  • Strong expertise in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, with the ability to manage donor activity and track fundraising pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire high-net-worth individuals to invest in BGCA’s mission.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, creating a unified approach to fundraising and donor engagement.
  • A deep passion for the mission of BGCA and a firm belief in the power of youth development to change lives.

This position is remote, in the United States. You’ll be part of a nationwide movement, no matter where you call home.

If you are ready to be a pivotal force in shaping the future of BGCA, to inspire life-changing giving, and to leave a legacy through your work, we encourage you to apply today. This is your opportunity to join a team that is passionate, driven, and committed to making a lasting impact on youth — the leaders of tomorrow.
