LOCATION- Remote

*Travel estimated at up to 50% at peak times (can be up to 12 – 14 days or more in a month – including weekends - depending upon scheduling requirements.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Senior Director, Quality Improvement & Impact, the Director, Youth Impact will operate with general oversight to facilitate and deliver consultation and support services to member organizations. This team and role will focus on driving BGCA’s approach to quality improvement and youth impact as part of Future Ready (our new Strategic Direction) to create lasting impact in local BGC organizations. This role involves collaborating with local entities to enhance their capacity for maximizing mission effectiveness in youth outcomes. The Director will execute consultation and coaching services aimed at deepening the impact of the Boys & Girls Club Movement through organization-level evidence-informed interventions that are proven to drive youth impact, including, but not limited to, establishing systems for improved professional development and management practices, supporting data collection and use for improvement, and implementing continuous improvement methodologies to drive quality and youth impact. Being able to work collaboratively with field-facing staff across verticals, provide learning opportunities for local organizations, stay user-centered, and design knowledge-management systems for surfacing and spreading best practices are essential.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide Accountable Leadership to Independent Organizations

  • Establish partner relationships with Board members, CEOs, Operations and Programmatic leaders of local organizations in assigned service areas and provide consultative support, resources, and tools as needed.
  • Assist Clubs in building capacity to achieve their quality goals with an emphasis on improving organizational infrastructure and staff engagement and retention.
  • Create and maintain highest level of customer service relationship with professional and volunteer leadership of assigned Clubs.

 Strong and Stable Clubs

  • Support the development and implementation of a service delivery framework and approach that aligns with BGCA’s Standards of Organizational Effectiveness (SOEs) and Theory of Change with a focus on increasing member Club Experience as part of a holistic Organizational Development strategy.
  • Strategically assess and provide technical support services, coordinating field and technical consultants' deployment, and facilitating service delivery from various BGCA departments to designated member Boys & Girls Clubs within the assigned service area.
  • Ensure a continuous quality improvement approach, cross-functional collaboration, and information sharing with a focus on strategic and data-driven decision-making.
  • Assist assigned organizations in developing and implementing a programmatic outcome- driven Club experience and measurement strategy with daily data that drives the Formula for Impact.
  • Assist Clubs in analyzing internal and external data to create plans and strategies to increase participation and retention of members.
  • Design and facilitate learning opportunities for Clubs, including training, webinars, and peer-learning communities, to disseminate best practices in youth impact and quality improvement.

 Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Collaborate with Field Operations staff and leadership to formulate strategies and consulting services aimed at enhancing membership, program adoption and engagement, Club Experience, and youth outcomes for affiliated member organizations.
  • Represent the Youth Development department and articulate department priorities while working collaboratively with other field facing teams to drive quality and Club Experience for members.
  • Collaborate with other field facing services within BGCA to:
  • Support consultations with Clubs to define impact at a local level
  • Surface essential supports and programs that are needed by Clubs to achieve/grow impact in their local context
  • Align service delivery strategy with the Theory of Change & best practice standards to identify and implement YD programs, provide aligned support, and demonstrate impact

Sustain and Scale Program Quality

  • Support the relationship with the Forum for Youth Investment’s Weikart Center for Program Quality
  • Sustain and scale the key elements of Program Quality to Clubs including Weikart trainings & certifications, BGCA’s Learning & Leadership Development Trainings, data collection and analysis, Program Quality assessments, etc., including other contractual elements of the Weikart assets and continued development of additional on-line assets.
  • Work with other Senior Directors, DODs, Alliance Directors, etc. to deliver Program Quality supports to Clubs in each region in coordination with NTI, TI, etc.
  • Coordinate and deliver Club Consultations in partnership with DODs and local club leaders
  • Translate findings and learnings from research and data analysis to practice for local Clubs

Coaching & Consulting Skills

  • Approaches work with a continuous quality improvement mindset, curiosity, creativity, and innovation.
  • Is skilled in coaching and facilitation techniques – asking questions, capacity building, and navigating complex inter-personal dynamics.
  • Creates a culture of learning among BGCA staff and Club staff in all interactions and events
  • Make self available for consulatation to individuals/organizations and works to get to root cuases and effective solutions

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/experience equivalency
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a coach (executive, team, organizational coaching) and facilitator (adult learning)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management, administration and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization) or 7 years’ experience working in the field of quality improvement, organizational development, or non-profit consulting
  • Experience with organizational development, youth development, and quality improvement methodologies such as: Improvement Science, LEAN, Six Sigma
  • Experience with public speaking and engaging with Boards, CEOs, senior leadership, external stakeholders and partners, etc.

SKILLS

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; data analysis, demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity; supervision and management skills; organizational planning and budgeting; negotiation and consensus building skills; strong interpersonal and human relations skills; strong organizational skills; and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 Application suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new technologies that support core functions of the position.

  • Promote and protect the BGCA brand
  • Guide and support organizations in the unit in the advancement of BGCA’s strategy/national priorities
  • Guide, support and help build the team in the accomplishment of the unit’s goals and objectives
  • Assist with other projects and assignments as requested by National Director, Quality Improvement
  • Demonstrate BGCA mission driven I*CARE values and integrate these beliefs into our environment and ways of work
