LOCATION- Remote

Approximately 30% travel, but up to 50% at times may be required

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Managing Director, Quality Improvement & Impact, the Senior Director will provide leadership and oversight to Directors of Youth Impact. This role is responsible for leading and advancing Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) strategic approach to quality improvement and youth impact, with a strong emphasis on scaling continuous improvement methodologies across the Movement. The Senior Director will play a critical role in fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, capacity building, and cross-organizational collaboration to ensure measurable and lasting impact in local Boys & Girls Club organizations.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience leading statewide, regional, or national networks or collective action efforts, as well as expertise in quality improvement methodologies such as Improvement Science, LEAN, or Six Sigma. The Senior Director will be responsible for designing and implementing strategic initiatives that support Clubs in enhancing program quality, strengthening professional development practices, and improving operational infrastructure to drive sustained youth outcomes.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide Accountable Leadership to Independent Organizations

  • Lead the development and implementation of BGCA’s quality improvement strategy, aligning efforts with the organization’s Theory of Change and new Future Ready strategic direction.
  • Lead the execution of the Youth Impact Network through its current and future iterations as it scales nationally across 1,000+ local Clubs.
  • Manage, coach, and train a team of regional Youth Impact Consultants to ensure effective service delivery, coaching, and technical assistance to local Clubs.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with state, regional, and national organizations to drive collective impact efforts and build capacity for improvement at scale.
  • Create and maintain highest level of customer service relationship with professional and volunteer leadership of assigned Clubs. 

Strong and Stable Clubs

  • Support the development and implementation of a service delivery framework and approach that aligns with BGCA’s Standards of Organizational Effectiveness (SOEs) and Theory of Change with a focus on increasing member Club Experience as part of a holistic Organizational Development strategy.
  • Establish strong relationships with Club leaders, including Board members, CEOs, and operations/programmatic leadership, to support their organizational development and quality improvement goals.
  • Identify priorities, needs, opportunities and efficiencies in quality improvement and service delivery based on local organization characteristics (Region, State, Club Size, Assessment Results, etc.)
  • Assess Clubs’ needs and provide strategic recommendations for professional development, staff retention, and continuous improvement systems.
  • Champion data-informed decision-making by equipping Clubs with the tools, resources, and coaching necessary to track progress and refine strategies based on evidence-based practices.
  • Design and facilitate learning opportunities for Clubs, including training, webinars, and peer-learning communities, to disseminate best practices in youth impact and quality improvement.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Represent the Youth Development department and articulate department priorities while working collaboratively with other field facing teams to drive quality and Club Experience for members.
  • Work cross-functionally with Field Operations teams and other BGCA departments to enhance the alignment of service delivery with local Club needs.
  • Collaborate with the Research, Evaluation, and Insights team to measure the impact of quality improvement initiatives and inform future strategies.
  • Implement processes to collect and collate learnings and best practices to share across BGCA and the Movement.
  • Serve as a thought leader in BGCA’s national efforts to elevate quality improvement frameworks across the Movement.

Sustain and Scale Program Quality

  • Lead the execution of key partnerships, including the Forum for Youth Investment’s Weikart Center for Program Quality, ensuring the sustainability and scalability of program quality initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and dissemination of training, certification programs, and assessment tools that support quality improvement and program quality improvement efforts at the local and national levels.
  • Partner with regional leadership to align quality improvement efforts with broader organizational initiatives, ensuring Clubs have access to the right supports at the right time.
  • Translate findings and learnings from research and data analysis to practice for local Clubs

Coaching & Consulting Skills

  • Maintain a focus on a continuous quality improvement mindset, curiosity, creativity, and innovation.
  • Build and practice skills in coaching and facilitation techniques – asking questions, capacity building, and navigating complex inter-personal dynamics.
  • Build a culture of learning among BGCA staff and Club staff in all interactions and events
  • Conduct consultation to individuals/organizations and work to get to root causes and effective solutions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in education, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in youth development, nonprofit consulting, or organizational development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing teams of 3 or more employees, including remote teams
  • Experience with public speaking and engaging with Boards, CEOs, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience providing executive-level coaching and consultation to organizations.
  • Strong background in data analysis, impact measurement, and strategic planning.
  • Some level of expertise or experience in quality improvement methodologies such as Improvement Science, LEAN, or Six Sigma highly preferred.
  • Some level of experience leading statewide, regional, or national networks or collective action initiatives highly preferred.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience supervising remote teams.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Strong negotiation and consensus-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage budgets and multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Represent the Quality Improvement team and assist with other projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Guide, support and help build the team in the accomplishment of goals and objectives
  • Uphold BGCA’s ICARE values and integrate these principles into daily work and interactions
