Summary of the Role: 

Are you experienced in developing impactful youth programs and capacity building resources for adults to deliver high-quality youth programming and experiences with fidelity? Do you have experience providing coaching or technical experience to help others improve their overall practice? Do you have a deep understanding of youth development and applying those principles to designing skill-building curriculum and resources for diverse age groups and audiences audiences? We’re looking for a creative, results-driven adaptable leader who thrives on collaboration, innovation and systems-thinking who is driven to make a difference.  

Leading as a Youth Development Programs Director, you will play a central role in developing and delivering engaging, meaningful experiences for youth at our clubs and adult-facing trainings and resources. You’ll design and write resources and curriculum that support whole-child development, focusing on health and well-being, character and leadership, academic success, and life and workforce readiness. You will also provide coaching and consultations to Clubs to deliver high-quality impactful programmingThis position is perfect for someone who loves to write and apply best practices, strategies and processes to  bring big ideas to life when it comes to creating dynamic, youth-centered curriculum, trainings and supporting trainings and  resources that drive positive youth outcomes. 

As an individual contributor, this self-directed role involves strategic thinking, content creation, capacity-building, coaching and cross-functional collaboration with internal and external partners. You’ll work closely with various teams to manage projects, which includes managing grants and distributing funds, ensuring that our programs have the resources they need to succeed. You will also provide consultation and coaching to Clubs in implementing evidence informed programming that support youth outcomes. Reporting to the Senior Director Youth Development, you’ll develop and deliver high-quality, responsive programming for youth ages 6-18, supporting adult-facing trainings and resources and offer coaching and consultations to Clubs. We offer a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays required in the office and the flexibility to work remotely on the other days, ensuring you have the balance you need to thrive both personally and professionally. 

Responsibilities

  • Program Operations and Coaching: Establish and leverage systems that enable Clubs to advance the quality, rigor and scale of their program models (including youth-centered programming, professional development, and operational structures and systems). Use strategic thinking to provide coaching and consultation to Clubs to advance their implementation of systems and models that drive high-quality programming and positive youth outcomes. 
  • Curriculum and Content Development: Lead the design and creation of innovative, impactful content that resonates with young people. You’ll be writing and ideating new programming that will inspire and engage our club youth and staff. Your work will focus on creating developmentally appropriate, evidenced and trauma-informed programs that foster positive youth development. You will also be developing trainings and capacity building resources for adults that support their delivery of programming and creating a safe and positive environment where young people thrive. 
  • Collaborative Project Management: Collaborate with internal and external partners to move projects from brainstorming sessions to final delivery. You’ll manage multiple projects, ensuring each meets its goals and deadlines. 
  • Grant Management: Oversee the distribution of funds from grants, making sure resources are allocated effectively to support our programs. Your role will be key in applying a detail-oriented lens to ensure financial resources are used to their fullest potential. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement, always looking for ways to enhance the effectiveness and reach of our programming and adult facing resources. You’ll be encouraged to make decisions, even when faced with ambiguity, be a process-oriented and systems thinker who drives results in a fast-paced environment  

 

What You'll Bring: 

  • Proven Track Record in Youth Development: Experience in designing, writing and delivering content and adult capacity-building resources that has a lasting impact on young people, with expertise in positive youth development principles, out-of-school programming, and instructional design. 
  • Experience in Providing Coaching or Technical Experience: The ability to provide regular targeted strategic support to adults in order to improve their overall practice, and ultimately youth outcomes.  
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to juggle multiple projects, follow processes an procedures, set measurable goals, and articulate clear steps and strategic thinking to achieve them. 
  • Strong Writing and Presentation Skills: You’ll be writing a lot—everything from program materials, trainings to reports—and you’ll need to communicate your ideas clearly and compellingly to diverse audiences. This role requires a great deal of writing and is an essential component of the role.Collaboration Across Teams: You’re a natural collaborator, able to work effectively with diverse teams with different perspectives to bring projects to life. 
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: You thrive in a fun, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You’re always ready to pivot and find creative solutions. 
  • Innovative Thinker: You are action-oriented, results-driven and willing to take calculated risks, and provide technical leadership and coaching for youth-focused interventions.

  • Youth-Centered Mindset: You’re passionate about ensuring that young people have access to high-quality opportunities and experiences and understand the principles of youth development 
  • Broad Knowledge Base: You bring a wide array of knowledge and a strong desire to keep learning. You’re not afraid to step outside your comfort zone to design for various areas, even those you’re not an expert in. 
  • Self-Directed: You’re capable of setting your own deadlines and managing your time effectively. You enjoy a role where you can choose your own adventure and see your projects through to successful outcomes. 

Qualifications

  • Proven skill in positive youth development, education, instructional design, or curriculum writing required. 
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a youth-serving settingproviding developmentally appropriate instructional design, training, or related disciplines, with increasing responsibility. 
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and grant budgets. 
  • Experience in providing technical assistance or coaching.
