Join our Team as Director, New Market Operations!
Under the limited direction of the Vice President, Operations the Director, New Market Operations, will lead the design, launch, and transition of new Boys & Girls Club organizations in priority markets across the country. This role will serve as a national field executive responsible for advancing BGCA’s growth strategy by identifying new market opportunities, guiding feasibility and readiness assessments, supporting the formation of new governance structures, and overseeing the operational startup of new Clubs.
This leader will serve as a key partner to BGCA’s Strategic Growth team and will collaborate with community stakeholders, BGC CEOS, local school districts, civic leaders, and funders to ensure successful launches and sustainable operations. This position is essential to BGCA’s national goal of expanding high-quality youth development opportunities aligned to the Future Ready: Agenda for Collective Impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Market Strategy & New Market Development · Lead feasibility and readiness assessments, analyzing demographics, youth needs, and market conditions to inform launch decisions. · Partner with BGCA’s “Mapping the Country” initiative to identify, prioritize, and plan new market entries based on data-driven youth need. · Serve as a strategic thought leader on community-based organization (CBO) acquisitions, mergers, and partnership opportunities. · Recruit and launch founding committees and Boards of Directors; ensure start-up funding, guide the non-profit incorporation process and governance setup, and ensure alignment and compliance to the BGCA membership standards. · Engage in CEO search process, including recruitment and onboarding processes for new organizations. · Build partnerships with school districts, civic leaders, funders, and community stakeholders to establish credibility and funding readiness. · Develop early-stage fundraising readiness, seed-funding proposals, and sustainability frameworks. · Transition newly formed organizations to local governance and leadership demonstrated stability and readiness.
New Club Operations & Launch · Oversee site readiness, including facilities, safety compliance, and operational alignment with BGCA standards. · Develop startup staffing structures, job descriptions, and training plans to support program quality and staff performance. · Implement BGCA operational systems and tools, including MyClubHub, membership tracking, and safety protocols. · Support new organizations in launching youth programs, enrollment systems, and daily operational workflows. · Establish logistical operations including meal and transportation programs, vendor contracts, and safety infrastructure. · Provide hands-on support, coaching, and post-launch mentoring to ensure successful operational transition to local leadership.
Additional Responsibilities · Ensure success of BGCA’s national growth framework and processes including doubling the footprint and impact. · Model BGCA’s I•CARE values (Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence). · Represent BGCA at conferences, regional meetings, and community engagements to promote national growth and alignment. Supervision Exercised · No direct reports. May coordinate the work of consultants, contracted specialists, or temporary staff assigned to new market projects. |
· Strong understanding of nonprofit management, governance, and community development. · Demonstrated experience in launching new organizations or leading market expansion initiatives. · Exceptional project management, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation skills. · Knowledge of youth development, education systems, and cross-sector partnerships. · Ability to analyze data, develop market feasibility reports, and make informed strategic recommendations. · Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. · Comfort operating in ambiguous, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environments. · List mental and physical abilities necessary to perform job
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE · Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field. · Preferred: Master’s degree in business, education, or public policy. · Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, education, or community development sectors. · Demonstrated success in building partnerships, establishing governance structures, and leading operational startups. |
