Overview

Why Work at Boys & Girls Clubs of America

This isn’t just a job. It’s a mission. It’s a movement.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of America, purpose meets progress, and people come first. Every role at the national office exists for one reason: to strengthen local Clubs and expand opportunity for young people across the country. Whether you’re shaping strategy, supporting the field, or building systems that power our impact, your work directly contributes to helping young people, especially those who need us most, reach their full potential.

Our employees join because they want their work to matter. They stay because they can see the impact of their expertise in real communities every single day.

We support that purpose with flexibility, growth opportunities, supportive leadership, and a comprehensive total rewards package designed to help our people thrive, professionally and personally.

This is where purpose becomes practice. This is where your work matters.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is one of the nation’s most recognized and respected youth-serving organizations. For more than 160 years, Clubs have helped young people achieve academic success, build healthy lifestyles, and develop the character and leadership skills needed to thrive.

Our corporate partnerships power that impact. From nationally recognized brands to deeply local retail partners, these relationships fuel growth across the Movement. The Marketing & Communications team ensures that those partnerships are visible, differentiated, and delivering measurable value.

This is not traditional nonprofit PR. This is partnership-driven, revenue-connected, growth-oriented earned media.

Responsibilities

About the Role | What You Will Do

The Manager, Partnership Public Relations is BGCA’s strategic earned media lead for high-value corporate partnerships. This role sits at the intersection of communications, revenue, and executive visibility.

If this role is wildly successful 12 months from now:

  • Corporate revenue goals are being surpassed.
  • Partners are renewing and expanding because they see tangible media value.
  • New partners are entering the pipeline influenced by national and local coverage.
  • BGCA is operating in visible growth mode.

You will architect and execute earned media strategies that directly support partnership retention, expansion, and acquisition.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Lead national and local PR strategy for a portfolio of high-profile corporate partners including retail, financial services, sports, and consumer brands.
  • Jump directly into partner meetings with confidence, bringing proactive PR strategy that creates win-win value.
  • Develop integrated national and local media plans that elevate partners as community leaders while reinforcing BGCA’s mission.
  • Secure meaningful national placements and drive strong local coverage in key partner markets.
  • Shape high-visibility moments. From thought leadership platforms to large-scale activations.
  • Provide hands-on execution, from strategy through pitching, media engagement, and impact reporting.
  • Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously across partners such as Coca-Cola, NFL Foundation, Buffalo Wild Wings, NASCAR, Old Navy, and others.
  • Interface directly with senior executives, including BGCA leadership and corporate CEOs:  preparing messaging, handling media onsite, and maintaining control of high-stakes moments.
  • Leverage AI tools and media insights to sharpen targeting and maximize earned value.
  • Manage agency partners, ensuring alignment, speed, and accountability.

This is a high-volume, high-visibility role for someone who thrives in pace, pressure, and complexity.

Qualifications

Who Will Thrive Here

  • PR experts who are passionate about securing media coverage and bring a creative, determined approach to getting results.
  • Seasoned professionals who enjoy working directly with corporate partners, agencies and executives.
  • Individuals energized by growth targets, not just activity metrics.
  • Operators who can move quickly, think strategically, and execute confidently.
  • Agency professionals who are ready to own strategy end-to-end.

Competencies You Bring to the Role

  • Partnership-Focused PR Strategy You understand that PR success in a corporate partnership context is measured by retention, growth, and revenue contribution , not just impressions. You can connect earned media directly to business value.
  • Earned Media Expertise  You have secured national and meaningful local placements and can confidently walk through how you did it. From angle development to relationship activation to follow-up. You bring hustle and creativity, not passive pitching.
  • Corporate Communications & Executive Counse  You are comfortable preparing senior leaders and corporate executives for media moments. You can develop message points, anticipate risk, and maintain composure onsite at high-profile events.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Relationship Managemen  You know how to “thread the needle” between nonprofit mission and corporate brand priorities. You can align BGCA, partners, agencies, and internal stakeholders without slowing momentum.
  • Integrated Communications Collaboration  You understand how PR integrates with partnership marketing, sponsorship activations, retail campaigns, thought leadership, and community programming.
  • Project & Workstream Leadership You manage high volume without becoming methodical to the point of delay. You move with urgency, clarity, and structure while juggling multiple partners and timelines.
  • Agency & Vendor Management
  • You can direct agencies strategically while remaining hands-on yourself. You know when to push, when to pivot, and how to hold partners accountable for performance.
  • Media Trend & Environmental Awareness
  • You stay ahead of media trends, CSR narratives, retail community positioning, and sports access conversations. You identify opportunities others miss.
  • Adaptability & Strategic Judgment
  • You can operate in both bold, high-visibility moments and steady, consistent coverage cycles. You understand risk appetite and adjust accordingly.
  • Results Orientation
  • You measure success through placements, earned media value, partner satisfaction, and contribution to corporate revenue growth.

Measures of Success

Success in this role is defined by business impact, not just activity. Twelve months in, you will know you are making a difference if earned media is directly contributing to corporate revenue growth — partners are renewing and expanding because they see tangible PR value, and new partners are entering conversations influenced by national and local coverage. You will be expected to secure approximately 80 high-impact placements annually across national and priority local markets, while elevating the visibility of key partnerships in ways that strengthen renewal and growth discussions.

Your performance will be evaluated not simply by the volume of coverage, but by the quality and strategic relevance of placements, achievement of earned media value goals, partner satisfaction, and the confidence senior leaders place in your media strategy and execution. Success is reviewed throughout the year and measured annually, with a clear expectation that your work advances both brand visibility and corporate revenue outcomes.

Why This Role Matters

This role matters because it sits at the center of growth. Your work will not live in a press release folder — it will influence revenue, strengthen partnerships, shape executive visibility, and expand how the nation sees and understands our mission. If you are energized by turning earned media into real business value, enjoy operating alongside senior leaders, and want your strategy and execution to move both brand and revenue forward, this is an opportunity to do that at meaningful scale — while advancing outcomes for young people across the country.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $86,500 to $105,000. BGCA takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training and experience, as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. We are highly invested in every employee’s total well-being and offer a substantial and comprehensive total rewards package.
