LOCATION: This position is on-site, office-based in Atlanta, GA (hybrid model - 3 days remote / 2 days in office- Tuesday & Wednesday)

COMPENSATION: $15.00/hr

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Military & Outreach Services Programs & Initiatives Intern supports the national office of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Military & Outreach Services department. The intern will primarily assist the Director of Military Programs & Initiatives, contributing to coordination, research, and operational support for programs & initiatives. 

This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit program development, military-focused initiatives, and national-level operations within a mission-driven organization. 

Responsibilities

Keystone & Military Teen Ambassador 

  • Support the development of a plan to initiate the Military Teen Ambassador program pilot with a selected organization 
  • Assist with coordination and support of the Military Teen Ambassador Steering Committee 
  • Support logistics related to the Military Teen Ambassador event, including brainstorming and planning teen-centered activities 
  • Assist with teen engagement efforts connected to the Military Teen Ambassador program and Keystone Conference 
  • Support the development and implementation of a pilot plan for the Military Teen Ambassador program with a selected organization, contributing to successful pilot launch, documented lessons learned, and readiness for future expansion. 
  • Assist with coordination and administrative support of the Military Teen Ambassador Steering Committee, ensuring timely scheduling, documentation, and follow-up to support effective decision-making and pilot oversight. 
  • Support logistical planning for the Military Teen Ambassador event, including development of teen-centered activities, contributing to positive participant experiences and smooth event execution. 
  • Assist with teen engagement efforts connected to the Military Teen Ambassador program and Keystone Conference, supporting participation tracking, engagement outcomes, and consistent communication with youth and advisors. 

 

Military Youth of the Year 

  • Support teen engagement related to the Military Youth of the Year initiative 
  • Assist with developing a “how-to” guide for teens and advisors on preparing for the Military Youth of the Year program 
  • Support with tracking Military Youth of the Year participants, milestones, and key deadlines, including maintaining records and assisting with data organization and reporting 
  • Support teen engagement related to the Military Youth of the Year (MYOY) initiative, contributing to increased participation, retention, and preparedness of candidates across military-connected organizations. 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive “how-to” guide for teens and advisors, ensuring timely updates and consistent guidance that supports successful MYOY applications and program readiness. 
  • Track MYOY participants, milestones, and key deadlines by maintaining accurate records and organized datasets; support timely reporting and data quality to ensure reliable program monitoring, compliance, and decision-making. 

 

General Program Support 

  • Provide administrative and programmatic support to the Director, Military Programs & Initiatives and Director, Military Training & Programs 
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and tracking of military and outreach programs and initiatives 
  • Conduct research on best practices, partners, and program development opportunities related to military and outreach services 
  • Support data collection, reporting, and program evaluation efforts 
  • Assist with preparing presentations, reports, toolkits, and other internal and external communications 
  • Coordinate meetings, take notes, and track follow-up items 
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, with a minimum of second-year standing 
  • Availability to work onsite at BGCA’s Midtown Atlanta office 
  • Ability to commit to the internship through Summer 2026 
  • Collaborative team player with a positive, professional attitude 
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, staff, and external partners 
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing 
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly 
  • Willingness to comply with all onsite work safety protocols and BGCA’s ICARE Values
