LOCATION: This position is on-site, office-based in Atlanta, GA (hybrid model - 3 days remote / 2 days in office- Tuesday & Wednesday)

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Vice President, Data Strategy, Analytics & Learning, the Director, Data Capability leads BGCA’s national strategy to strengthen data literacy, readiness, and use across the Movement. In this role, building Club data capacity explicitly includes strengthening BGCA’s own data literacy, practices, and consulting capabilities, recognizing that enterprise modeling and staff competencies are prerequisites for sustainable field adoption. Data Capability focuses on building skills, tools, and systems that enable effective use of data and evidence across BGCA and Clubs. This role is responsible for defining scalable approaches, standards, and learning systems that enable Clubs and national staff to collect, interpret, and apply data for improvement, accountability, and fundraising. The Director designs and oversees capacity-building initiatives, integrates data expectations into systems and field-facing strategies, and ensures feedback from the field informs continuous improvement of data tools, practices, and enterprise learning while maintaining clear enterprise expectations and standards. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

Strategy & Integration 

  • Develop a multi-year roadmap for Club data capacity-building, employing multiple methods. 
  • Design and implement a national Data Literacy & Capacity Strategy aligned with BGCA’s Formula for Impact and outcomes framework. 
  • Integrate outcome measurement into MyClubHub, ensuring all Clubs can track and use youth outcomes data effectively. 
  • Define and build a core set of data literacy and data consultation competencies for BGCA staff and field consultants to ensure consistent, high-quality guidance and modeling for Clubs. 
  • Integrate data capacity-building into relevant national Field Operations initiatives. 

 Standards, Readiness & Continuous Improvement 

  • Define and maintain enterprise standards for Club data readiness, literacy, and use, including tiered expectations aligned to Club size, maturity, and strategy. 
  • Establish clear guidance for minimum viable data practices required for participation in national initiatives, outcome measurement, and learning communities. 
  • Monitor adoption, fidelity, and effectiveness of data capacity-building efforts across both BGCA and Club contexts to inform continuous improvement of training, tools, and supports. 
  • Surface systemic barriers, implementation challenges, and field feedback to inform improvements to data systems, measurement approaches, and enterprise expectations.  

Field–Enterprise Alignment 

  • Serve as a bridge between BGCA enterprise priorities and Club-level realities, ensuring data expectations are ambitious, equitable, and feasible across diverse organizational contexts. 
  • Recommend prioritization and allocation of data capacity-building supports to ensure resources are focused where they can drive the greatest enterprise and field impact. 
  • Differentiate capacity-building strategies, supports, and pathways based on Club readiness, resources, and maturity while maintaining consistent enterprise standards. 
  • Elevate insights from Clubs to inform enterprise strategy, system design, and policy decisions related to data, measurement, and learning.

Enablement Through Training & Capacity-Building 

  • Design and deliver training for Club-facing national staff that reinforces enterprise data expectations, consulting competencies, and modeling of effective data use. 
  • Develop and facilitate learning experiences, webinars, and courses for Club leaders and data staff. 
  • Create and curate resources, toolkits, and guides to improve Club data use.

Consultation & Support 

  • Provide targeted consultation to larger or high-capacity organizations, modeling practices and approaches that can inform scalable supports for the broader Movement. 
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on data use for team-based consultations and cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Manage the Data Collaborative for Club Professionals, fostering shared learning and innovation. 

 Knowledge Management & Collaboration 

  • Work closely with REI team to translate data insights into user-friendly guidance and learning products. 
  • Partner with internal BGCA teams to embed data literacy expectations, standards, and supports into field-facing systems, initiatives, and workflows.  

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Participate on cross-functional, cross-departmental project teams, as assigned. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 SUPERVISION EXERCISED 

  • No direct Reports. May supervise the work of temporary employees or interns 

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  

  • Advanced degree in education, social science, data science, evaluation, or related discipline. 
  • Minimum of five years of experience supporting capacity-building, training, or data use initiatives within large, complex organizations or networks. 
  • Demonstrated experience with data systems and platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Power BI, Tableau, or similar), data analysis (descriptive and basic inferential), and translating data into insights for decision-making. 
  • Experience building and facilitating training on data literacy, visualization, or storytelling with data. 
  • Experience designing learning systems or professional development curricula preferred. 

 

SKILLS

  • Translates Technical Concepts: Makes data and evaluation concepts accessible to non-technical audiences through examples, analogies, and user-friendly tools. 
  • Understands Data Systems and AnalysisDemonstrates working knowledge of data infrastructure, reporting tools, and basic analytic methods. 
  • Applies Data for Decision-Making: Uses data to identify opportunities, guide priorities, and assess impact. 
  • Consults and Collaborates Effectively: Works with cross-functional teams to integrate data literacy into organizational practices. 
  • Designs Learning Experiences: Applies principles of adult learning to create engaging and scalable professional development offerings. 
  • Manages Ambiguity and Complexity: Balances technical precision with practical solutions that meet the needs of diverse stakeholders. 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS 

Normal internal office environment; travel estimated at up to 30% (can be up to 4+ days or more in a given month, including weekends - depending upon scheduling requirements).  The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a  Valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country or abroad by using a map or other direction methods. 

 

Physical and Mental Requirements: 

High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to day activities, good reasoning abilities, sound judgment and the ability to work under time pressures.  Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting for more than four hours a day and other physical requirements required performing the essential functions in this position. 

 

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $120,000. BGCA takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training and experience, as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level.
