LOCATION- Remote: NE Region (ME, VT, NH, MA, RI, CT, NY, PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA)

 

About the Role

The Director will provide consultative services to 25–30 BGCA-affiliated military organizations, conducting quarterly consultations (three virtual and one in-person annually) to strengthen operations and enhance impact for youth in military communities. This role requires an energetic, passionate professional with a strong sense of purpose and a clear “why” for serving military-connected youth. The ideal candidate works independently with minimal direction, demonstrates excellent time management and prioritization skills, and brings a solid understanding of military culture, lifestyle, and deployment cycles. They must also be able to communicate effectively with command officers and other military leaders to foster collaboration and support program success.

By providing strategic guidance, operational support, and relationship management to military-affiliated organizations, the Director helps ensure Clubs are equipped to deliver high-quality programs and meaningful impact within military communities. This position also plays a key role in fostering strong partnerships with military leaders and supporting youth who often face unique challenges related to military life and deployment cycles.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Do

Empowering Youth-Serving Programs:

  • Collaborate with youth development leaders to design and implement strategies that meet the unique needs of military-connected youth.
  • Guide program teams in delivering safe and high-impact youth center experiences that foster belonging and resilience.
  • Deliver coaching, training, and professional development that strengthens staff capacity and leadership effectiveness.

Building Strong Partnerships:

  • Serve as the primary BGCA liaison, ensuring organizations receive consultation, resources, and training tailored to their needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Chief Professional Officers and key leaders within assigned military youth centers.
  • Facilitate executive coaching, onboarding, and mentoring for Youth Directors and leadership teams.

Enhancing Organizational Capacity:

  • Foster high-level customer service relationships with school-age and youth center leadership, supporting them in setting and achieving measurable goals.
  • Encourage data-driven strategies to increase member participation and retention, empowering local leaders to make data-informed decisions.
  • Coordinate with BGCA subject matter experts to deliver technical assistance and customized solutions.

 Operations Leadership & Guidance:

  • Provide ongoing training support through virtual and on-site consultations, delivering customized assistance that aligns with each organization’s goals.
  • Manage schedules, documentation, and reporting requirements to ensure accountability and alignment with BGCA standards.

  • Successfully providing strategic guidance and operational support that strengthens Club effectiveness and youth impact
  • Effectively managing consultations and support for 25–30 military-affiliated Clubs across multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Delivering proactive, solutions-oriented support in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of military culture, lifestyles, and deployment cycles
  • Communicating professionally and confidently with military leaders and partners
  • Serving as a reliable and collaborative partner to Clubs and military communities
  • Helping create meaningful experiences and positive outcomes for military-connected youth and families

Qualifications

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS

To thrive in this role, you should have: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, social services, education, or related field; plus, five years of relevant experience in youth program management or nonprofit consulting. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • High energy, adaptability, and the ability to connect with diverse personalities. 

Travel Expectations

  • Normal internal working environment.  
  • Approximately 60-70% travel.  
  • The position requires possession and maintaining of a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country. 

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this role is $90,000.00 to $100,000.00. BGCA takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training and experience, as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level.
